Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore) (15:22): My question is addressed to the Minister for Energy and Environment. Will the Minister update the House on how the reuse and recycling of plastic bags can help protect the environment?

Mr MATT KEAN (Hornsby—Minister for Energy and Environment) (15:23): I thought I would never get the chance. We know that there are no such things as single-use plastic bags in the Labor Party. The fishes are meant to jump onto the hook in this place.

Asquith Girls 60th Anniversary

Mr MATT KEAN (Hornsby—Minister for Energy and Environment) (19:46):Today I acknowledge Asquith Girls High School, which celebrates its sixtieth anniversary this year. Over those 60 years Asquith Girls has had a number of hardworking and dedicated teachers and principals who have built the school into the wonderful educational institution that it is today. It is also the support of the local community, parents and students that makes the school even more special.

Plans approved for Hawkesbury River Station

Member for Hornsby Matt Kean MP is pleased to announce plans for up an accessibility upgrade at Hawkesbury River Station will start by the end of this year after plans for the project were approved.

The upgrade is part of the NSW Government’s Transport Access Program, an initiative to deliver safe, modern and accessible public transport infrastructure across the state, and will include:

Hornsby Wildcats Softball

Hornsby Wildcats is looking for their next softball superstars with registrations open now for the upcoming summer season.

The club, which has just celebrated its 5th year, takes players from the age of 5 right through until Senior grades.

They have already produced a number of rep players and are focused on developing skills and ensuring all players have fun and are getting a go. Players Olivia, Gisele, Tara and Erin who recently had State Rep trials visited State Member for Hornsby Matt Kean to discuss softball and increasing awareness of the club.

Matt Kean MP signs up to Club Berowra

Club Berowra has continued its drive to sign up new members with Member for Hornsby Matt Kean MP pledging his support.

“I know how important this club is to the community and I want to do my bit by signing up for membership,” Mr Kean said.

Club Berowra has called on support from the community with Platinum, Gold and Silver memberships ranging from $125 to $500.

“I hope others in the community can come on board and show their support,” Mr Kean said.

Hornsby North Public School student Matthew Chen (pictured above with Matt Kean MP) has taken out the Young Archie Award for his portrait of his father.

Member for Hornsby Matt Kean MP visited the young student at Hornsby North PS to congratulate him on the win.

Matthew’s oil pastel painting called Super Daddy, beat out over 600 entries to win in the 5-8 category.

Matthew wanted his artwork, to be a tribute to his Dad Xinming, a medical scientist.

Hornsby Quarry Transformation

Watch as the spoil from the NorthConnex project is delivered to transform the Hornsby Quarry. Once a dangerous and disued quarry work is being completed to turn it into the Cenntenial Parklands of the north. Once completed it will include bike tracks, walking trails, picnic areas and sporting fields right in the heart of Hornsby.
