From midnight tonight, there will be further measures introduced to keep our Hornsby community safe and to restrict the spread of COVID-19.
If you choose to ignore these new rules there will be tough penalties.
The new restrictions include:
Do not gather with more than 2 people in public
Stay home:
Hornsby locals are encouraged to return their bottles and cans and donate the 10 cents to those doing it tough in the bush.
Member for Hornsby and Minister for for Environment Matt Kean says, “All Return and Earn vending machines will now allow you to donate the proceeds from your bottle and can collection to Rural Aid, directly helping those suffering in the drought.”
An average of almost 300kg of food per person is wasted every year in Australia.

he local OzHarvest van collects food and drops off hampers to local charities. Last week, OzHarvest was joined by Matt Kean MP.
Member for Hornsby Matt Kean MP today congratulated Hornsby JPs Tony Bray, Patricia Newth, Margaret Lewis and Ray Galbraith for 50 years of service to the community as a Justice of the Peace.
“Tony, Patricia, Margaret and Ray are some of the longest-serving JPs in the state, and have donated countless hours to helping local people,” Mr Kean said.
“Just about everyone needs a JP at some point in their life - such as when they buy a house or access their superannuation – and I know these three have always been happy to lend a hand.”
It was great celebrating the launch of the W.O.W. Inner West project Addison Road Community Centre which rescues excess food from ending in landfill by redistributing it to people facing food insecurity. I’m very happy to get behind this project which is great for our environment and the community!

It was such a rewarding experience to accompany OzHarvest today to see how they’re feeding vulnerable people across NSW with fresh and healthy surplus food that was otherwise destined for landfill.

Yesterday the Deputy Premier blamed the Minister's National Parks and Wildlife Service rangers for contributing to the bushfires by not conducting enough hazard reduction burning. Does the Minister agree with him?
