Flashing lights installed at Normanhurst West Public

Flashing Lights for Normanhurst West

Safety will be improved around Normanhurst West Public School following the installation of flashing lights.

Normanhurst West Public School Mum Kaija Ross wrote to Member for Hornsby Matt Kean MP to request the school receive the flashing lights after she was concerned for the safety of her three children as they walked to school.

"When we walked to schoo! it was obvious cars were missing the 40 zone and something more visible needed to be in place" Mrs Ross said.

Intersection Improvements

Member for Hornsby Matt Kean MP is pleased to announced $1.5 million will be invested in upgrading the intersection of The Esplanade, Duffy Avenue and Chilvers Road.

“The community has wanted to see changes to this intersection for a long time and we are finally seeing some action to improve safety and traffic flow through the area,” Mr Kean said.

The funding which will be directed to Hornsby Council to complete the work which will see it change from the two T junctions to a four way junction.

New commuter parking for Hornsby

Commuter Carpark for Hornsby

Transport for NSW and TAFE NSW have agreed to terms to transfer a parcel of land adjacent to Hornsby Train Station for a new commuter car park.

The proposed car park which will be located on Jersey Street will help reduce parking pressure at the station.

Currently additional places are available for commuters at the Hornsby West eld and will continue to be available to use free of charge.

The proposed project will help ensure that a commuter car park is available prior to the expiration of the current Transport for NSW lease from West eld in 2021.

Active Kids extended to two vouchers per year

Active Kids Voucher extended to 2 vouchers per year

The hugely popular Active Kids program will be doubled this year with two $100 vouchers available in one calendar year to help families with the cost of living and encourage children to play more sport all year round.
Member for Hornsby Matt Kean MP said Ihe expansion of the Active Kids program would mean each child was eligible (or a $100 voucher twice a year, with the key aim of helping them participate in sport in summer and winter.

Volunteer recognised for contribution to life saving

Volunteer Craig Holland and Matt Kean MP

For four decades Craig Holland has been dedicating his time toensuring the safety of the community at the beach, traveling from his home in Mount Colah to Newport beach twice aweek.

Craig Holland of Mount Colah was presented with the Premiers Recognition award for 40 years services to the community, by Member for Hornsby Matt Kean MP.

First joining Newport Surf Club in 1976, Craig has been an integral part of the club specialising in long boats. He has spent many hours maintaining boats and towing them to competitions up and down the coast.

Extra funding takes NSW Farmer safety to the skies

EXTRA FUNDING TAKES NSW FARMER SAFETY TO THE SKIES

High-tech drones will soon be zooming across properties in regional NSW, helping farmers to do their work safer and better thanks to new funding from the Liberals & Nationals Government.

 

Minister for Better Regulation Matt Kean said a drone rebate would be offered as part of an extra $2.8 million dollars in funding that will also extend the Quad Bike Safety Improvement Program.

$12.5 million commitment for new nuclear medicine and technology precinct at ANSTO

An estimated 5000 extra jobs are forecast to be created in a new world-class precinct for business, scientists and start-ups at the ANSTO facility at Lucas Heights.

The state government announced on Tuesday, if re-elected, it would invest $12.5 million over four years in the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) project.

Minister for Innovation Matt Kean said "a new Nuclear Medicine and Technology Hub "will help develop cutting edge nuclear medical and technological advances that will make a real difference to people’s lives".
