“It’s time to put consumers first and this package will do just that.”

THE State Government is preparing to tear up the business model of ticket scalpers who use computers to buy up the best seats at events purely to resell them for profit.

The intention to move against resale sites and so-called “bots” will be outlined by Fair Trading Minister Matt Kean today in a speech built around the rallying cry “consumers first”.

In the speech to department staff at Parramatta he will also urge them to help him restore public confidence shaken by revelations about rogue retirement villages and bodgy building certification.
