NSW to get worldclass work health and safety centre

The NSW Government has committed $2.5 million worth of funding for a worldclass work health and safety centre to help drive down workplace fatalities.

Minister for Innovation and Better Regulation Matt Kean said the NSW Centre for Work Health & Safety within SafeWork NSW would be the first of its kind in Australia aimed at

translating research into improved work health and safety practices.

The Minister spoke with 2SM today.

The upcoming NSW Budget will include almost $2.5 million worth of funding for a world-class work health and safety centre to help drive down workplace fatalities.

Minister for Innovation and Better Regulation Matt Kean said the NSW Centre for Work Health & Safety within SafeWork NSW would be the first of its kind in Australia aimed at translating research into improved work health and safety practices.

“The NSW Government is deeply committed to reducing the incidence of workplace injury and illness, and making NSW workplaces the safest in Australia,” Mr Kean said.

Rebuild Assist has received an upgrade

Minister for Innovation and Better Regulation Matt Kean has announced the Rebuild Assist web portal, which helped so many people on the Northern Rivers after Cyclone Debbie, will now be rolled out across the State.

Rebuild Assist is a one-stop-shop where people can easily find qualified and insured builders and tradespeople for a range of building work, as well as useful information for property owners.

Ku Ring Gai Netball Association Fiftieth Anniversary

I’d like to acknowledge a very special local sporting association from the Hornsby Kuring-gai area whose members are busily preparing for their 50th anniversary celebrations later this year.

I am of course talking about the great community-run organisation that is the Kuring-gai Netball Association. This not-for-profit sporting body is a wonderful example of what can be achieved on and off the court with hard work, perseverance and dedication.

THE Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Service biggest fund raising event, The Lismore Outdoor and Leisure Show has been thrown a life line with the announcement from State Minister for Innovation and Better Regulation Matt Kean and Lismore MP Thomas George.

The two were successful in implementing a special clause into Fair Trading laws to allow motor dealers from QLD to attend this year's event.

"We are announcing an exemption to the Lismore Outdoor Trade and Leisure show to make it in its 20th year its most successful on yet,” Mr Kean said.
