Watch as the spoil from the NorthConnex project is delivered to transform the Hornsby Quarry. Once a dangerous and disued quarry work is being completed to turn it into the Cenntenial Parklands of the north. Once completed it will include bike tracks, walking trails, picnic areas and sporting fields right in the heart of Hornsby.

A bungled Council merger is having a green lining for the people of Hornsby with millions of dollars of compensation turned into parklands.

Member for Hornsby Matt Kean MP said this $100 million investment in our area ensures no one in Hornsby is worse off due to Council boundary changes.

NorthConnex has committed to depositing up to 1 million cubic metres of spoil into the quarry which is being done using a state-of-the-art conveyor system,

When you are digging one big hole in the ground you need another big hole where you can dump the rock.

NorthConnex has been dumping the rocks and spoil from the tunnelling into the Hornsby quarry. What will result will be a thing of beauty.

Member for Hornsby Matt Kean MP partnering with NorthConnex means we not only fix Pennant Hills Road one of the worst in the state but we also have the opportunity to turn this quarry into the Centennial Parklands of the north.

Quarry starts to transform into park

MORE than 20 per cent of the spoil required to fill Hornsby Quarry has been transported from the NorthConnex project to create the “Centennial Park of the north’’.

Last week, Hornsby state Liberal MP Matt Kean, Urban Infrastructure Minister Paul Fletcher, Berowra federal Liberal MP Julian Leeser and Hornsby Mayor Philip Ruddock visited the site to witness the beginning of Hornsby Park take place.
