Powering ahead on Transgrid Project

POWERING AHEAD ON TRANSGRID PROJECT

More than half a million homes and businesses in Sydney’s inner suburbs will have more reliable power, with TransGrid’s $285 million Powering Sydney’s Future project getting the green light today from the NSW Government.

Energy Minister Matt Kean said the upgraded infrastructure will provide additional security of supply during peak demand periods.

“Parts of Sydney’s transmission and distribution networks are reaching their end of life, so this project will play a crucial role in ensuring a continuous and reliable energy supply for our communities,” Mr Kean said.

STUDENTS across Hornsby may have automatic access to selective schools in the shire if a campaign by Hornsby state Liberal MP Matt Kean is successful.

For several months, residents, in conjunction with the Advocate’s Schools for Hornsby campaign, have pleaded with the State Government to increase access to schools.

Mr Kean is calling on Education Minister Rob Stokes to support the campaign, which would see Hornsby Girls’ High School and Normanhurst Boys’ High School become open to all students in the shire.
