Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital

Paediatrics open for business

15 November 2020

The brand new paediatrics unit at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital is open for business with staff thrilled to be in their new home.

Paediatrics is the second department to open in the brand new 6 storey clinical services building. The centrepiece of the $265 million Stage two redevelopment of the hospital.

Member for Hornsby Matt Kean and Member for Ku-ring-gai Alister Henskens SC took a tour of the new department which includes additional beds for patients and a better play area for younger children and a recreation room with study area for older children.

The Hon Matt Kean MP Member for Hornsby was joined by his colleague Alister Henskens SC MP in officially opening the Medical Imaging Department at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital.

Mr Kean said, “As part of the much needed upgrade we now have the best diagnostic tools for local patients. This upgrade basically doubles the size of the old department and ensures our hospital can provide quality care for our community long into the future. I am thrilled to officially open the Hornsby Hospital Medical Imaging Department!”

Free flu injections

Free flu injections

Last year Hornsby was particularly hard hit by the flu. No one wants to get sick and we particularly don’t want the littlest members of our community to fall ill.

That is why I am so pleased that all children aged between 6 months and 5 years will be able to access free flu injections this winter. The NSW State Government’s $3.5 million influenza vaccination program will help stop the flu from striking the younger members of the community.
