Platypus to return to the Royal National Park

06 September 2021

There are many things best left in the 70’s like flared pants, mirror balls and sideburns. But there is one thing we should not leave behind and that’s the iconic platypus in the Royal National Park. Absent from the region for over 50 years, today I announced a plan to bring them back to the Royal. Returning an iconic species back to one of the country’s oldest and most iconic Parks. A major collaboration between WWF-Australia UNSW NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and Taronga Zoo Sydney. Great for conservation, great for the environment and great for tourism all within easy reach of Australia’s biggest city.
