Hornsby locals are encouraged to return their bottles and cans and donate the 10 cents to those doing it tough in the bush.
Member for Hornsby and Minister for for Environment Matt Kean says, “All Return and Earn vending machines will now allow you to donate the proceeds from your bottle and can collection to Rural Aid, directly helping those suffering in the drought.”
The BOTTLES FOR THE BUSH APPEAL is running throughout summer until the end of February next year. Those who are already embracing using the Return and Earn scheme, are being asked to consider donating at least some of their containers to help our struggling farmers and rural communities.
“Return and Earn is extremely popular and so far more than 2.5 billion containers have been returned since it started in December 2017,” Mr Kean said.
“If we can start putting some of that money into Rural Aid, it could make a real difference.”
TOMRA, one half of the joint-venture operating the Return and Earn Network across NSW is hoping to collect 2.5 million containers donated by the end of February which will mean $250,000 raised.
Return and Earn Reverse Vending Machines can be found outside Berowra Tavern 1A Turner Road Berowra and Level 1M in the Woolworths Blue Car Park, Hornsby Westfield.
Bottles and cans can also be returned to Michael at Berowra Post Office who offers options to donate to Berowra Rural Fire Brigade, Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Support & RFS, The Sonaf Maneka Orphanage West Timor, Need for Feed and Berowra Scouts.
