Sam Needs Your Help

State Member for Hornsby, Matt Kean MP, is encouraging residents to donate towards the purchase of a modified car in support of Cowan resident, Sam Fitzsimons.

19 year old Sam has a diagnosis of severe Mowat – Wilson Syndrome associated with severe Intellectual disability. Sam lives at home in Cowan with his parents, and older brother and younger sister and is mostly confined to a wheelchair.

Sam has very high medical needs and requires a modified car for transport. To date, the Fitzsimons family has been unable to obtain such a vehicle due to insufficient funds. However, recently a suitable second hand Toyota Hiace van has become available through Community Transport (Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Division) and an amount of $25,000 must be raised to purchase the vehicle.

Bendigo Bank is also assisting Sam by opening a bank account which will collect donations for Sam's Van. If you wish to make a donation please contact your nearest Bendigo Bank branch for account details. All donations over two dollars are tax deductable. It is preferable if donations are received before mid-October.

Sam's mother Sarah Fitzsimons stressed the importance of this car to Sam's life and wellbeing.

'Our family would be incredibly grateful for any donations', Mrs Fitzsimons said.

'Sam's disabilities prevent him for participating in opportunities that others his age take for granted'.

'Despite his hardships, Sam lives life optimistically. This modified car would greatly improve Sam's quality of life and wellbeing'.

Matt Kean MP echoed Mrs Fitzsimons' words by encouraging residents to donate to a community cause.

'I encourage residents to donate to this vital cause', Mr Kean said.

'Sam Fitzsimons faces a host of challenges and this car would bring happiness and joy to his life'.
