NSW Budget 2013/2014

State Liberal Member for Hornsby Matt Kean has hailed the 2013/14 budget as a massive win for Hornsby community following a big investment in local infrastructure projects.

"The NSW Government has allocated over $40.6 million in today's budget for Stage one of the redevelopment at Hornsby Hospital," Mr Kean said.

"This is a big win for our community and will ensure Hornsby residents are given the upgraded medical facilities they need after years of Labor neglect."

The Government has also released vital funds for the construction of Hornsby Hospital's acute mental health unit with a further $450,000 being set aside over the coming financial year to complete then project. The total cost of the mental health facility upgrade will climb to $26.6 million when complete.

"I'm a passionate advocate for mental health services and I welcome the funding to improve the Upper North Shore's only designated mental health unit which will be critical for our future," he said.

Residents in Galston and Cowan will be pleased to know over $14.8 million dollars has been allocated for the two suburbs priority sewerage programs.

"I made the delivery of this important infrastructure project one of my number one priorities when I campaigned for the seat," Mr Kean said.

"This will provide residents with the basic services they have been waiting years to receive and bring them into the 21st century. I am proud to deliver on another commitment to improve the lives of these residents."

Mr Kean has also secured local transport infrastructure funding with an investment of $4 billion over the next four years to be spent on the North West Rail Link.

"We are on track to have tunnel boring machines in the ground for next year for the North West Rail Link," Mr Kean said.

"This will alleviate traffic problems on New Line Road in Dural and provide a much needed link for the people of Cherrybrook with the Macquarie Business Park Precinct and the city."

The budget will also fund the stage 3 assessment of the private sector plan to complete the missing link between the F3 and the M2 motorway. The budget for this project will see the NSW Government contribute $400m to the long-overdue missing link road project.

Mr Kean said the solving the missing link road dilemma will improve safety, slash traveling times and enable residents to reclaim traffic congested suburbs such as Pennant Hills and Thornleigh.

"I've led this campaign since my election and am delighted to see it finally come to fruition.".

Other funding commitments will see $5.6 million spent on the Hornsby Courthouse upgrade, $10.4 million spent on local road upgrades and $250,000 for an upgrade to Hornsby's Clarke Road Special School.
