National Volunteers Week

Hornsby state MP Matt Kean joined Hornsby Advocate editor Brenton Cherry last week to lend a hand in the community last week and celebrate National Volunteers Week.

Mr Kean and Mr Cherry were put to work by their new colleagues for the day and rolled up their sleeves to volunteer at Hornsby Hospital, Meals on Wheels and Hornsby St Vincent de Paul.

Starting their volunteering day at Hornsby Hospital the pair helped out the Pink Ladies and pushed the book trolley around corridors visiting sick patients. They then headed off to join the friendly staff at Meals on Wheels in Hornsby to visit seven elderly residents to deliver meals.

In the afternoon they finished his volunteering day with a visit to Hornsby's St Vincent de Paul shop. Feeling inspired from volunteering visits on Friday, Mr Kean paid a visit to staff at Berowra's Bushcare program on Saturday.

"It was great to see first-hand the tireless hard work volunteers do," Mr Kean said.

"I'd like to congratulate each and every one of them for the huge service they contribute to our community."
