Thornleigh students bathed in colour for Gold Coast Games

THORNLEIGH West Public School students were at their smartest and brightest at their first colour explosion and baton relay to mark the opening of the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.

Their ceremony saw each class representing a different country and parading with their flags around the school quad, with the students raising $34,605 to purchase vital new equipment.

Cyrus and Darius Shahidi were the top individual fundraisers, collecting $1500 each.

Following the flag ceremony the prefects and school captains ran a baton relay, watched by special guests, including Berowra federal Liberal MP Julian Leeser and Hornsby state Liberal MP Matt Kean.
