Interns join hospital

JUNIOR doctors have bolstered Hornsby Hospital’s halls as part of an internship program with Northern Sydney Local Health District and Sydney University.

Sixteen interns were welcomed by Hornsby state Liberal MP Matt Kean last week when they started their careers with internships at the Sydney Adventist Hospital at Wahroonga and Hornsby Hospital.

The recruits included 24-year-old Beecroft resident Noni Chan and aspiring opthalmalogist and 25-year-old Killara resident James Jiang. Dr Chan, a former Abbotsleigh student, and Dr Jiang, a former Killara High student, are Sydney University graduates.

“We were here together on our first day of medical school so it’s like we have come full circle,” Dr Chan said.

Mr Kean said the students’ commitment would improve the lives of thousands of people.
