Matt Kean MP with Hornsby Wildcats softball players

Hornsby Wildcats is looking for their next softball superstars with registrations open now for the upcoming summer season.

The club, which has just celebrated its 5th year, takes players from the age of 5 right through until Senior grades.

They have already produced a number of rep players and are focused on developing skills and ensuring all players have fun and are getting a go. Players Olivia, Gisele, Tara and Erin who recently had State Rep trials visited State Member for Hornsby Matt Kean to discuss softball and increasing awareness of the club.

Mr Kean said, “It is great to see a local club have such amazing success in such a short space of time. I would encourage any girls thinking of playing softball to check out the Wildcats.”

Playing under the Hornsby District Softball Association the Wildcats’ season runs from the beginning of October through until March. Mid-week trainings are at Rofe Park Hornsby Heights with games played at Hayes Park in Galston each week. (see advert below right) President of the Club Debbie Jehn welcomes players of all ages and skill level to consider joining the club.

Debbie said, “Softball is a sport for all ages and abilities. It teaches players team work, helps develop fielding and batting skills and provides a fun and encouraging environment to get active. Softball is a game you can play and enjoy for life. We have ladies in their 60’s still playing.”

The NSW Government has announced all parents will receive two Active Kids Rebates which means all those who register with Wildcats will receive a $100 rebate on registration fees.

“I am pleased to see a second Active Kids rebate for parents this year to be able to cover both summer and winter sport. So families have more money in their pocket to spend on essentials,” Mr Kean said.
