Hornsby school students visit NSW Parliament

Berowra Public School visits Member for Hornsby the Hon. Matt Kean MP in NSW Parliament

“It is a great pleasure to hold this event every year and to meet these student leaders from schools in Hornsby” Matt Kean MP

A total of 88 local primary students from 22 schools along with their teachers, principals and parents were excited to take a once in a lifetime look at NSW Parliament with The Hon. Matt Kean MP Member for Hornsby.

The group of students, all leaders at their respective schools, spent the morning in Parliament with Mr Kean and toured the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council with both houses in session.

Following the tour, Premier Gladys Berejiklian dropped in to speak with the students and was impressed with the calibre of questions.

“Getting a chance to see first-hand how Parliament works and to question the Premier on politics and government is hands on learning for these students,” Mr Kean said.
The students also heard from NRL Legend Brad Fittler who told them in order to be good leaders they need to set a good example every day. While Waratah Pat McCutcheon also spoke on the importance of working on your leadership skills.

“The kids are fortunate enough that they’re leaders within their local communities and in their local schools and I think with leadership, it’s not a gift, it’s something you learn and you develop,” Mr McCutcheon said.
