Grant gives Norther District Little Athletics a running start

Member for Hornsby Matt Kean MP was pleased to help Northern District Little Athletics Centre upgrade their facilities with a Community Building Partnership grant of $62,812.

The program assists community groups to make upgrades to their facilities, purchase equipment or provide essential repairs. Northern Districts Little Athletics Centre is one of 15 community groups who will benefit from Community Building Partnership grants from Mr Kean.

“It is with great pride that I am able to assist these local community groups to make upgrades without having to dip into their hard earned fundraising,” Mr Kean said.

Currently the existing 2 lane synthetic long jump runway at Foxglove Oval is rundown and in desperate need of repair. This grant will allow the organisation to resurface it into a 3 lane tartan runway.

Northern District Little Athletics Centre gives kids aged from 5 a chance to do long jump, high jump, shot put, discuss, running and hurdles. While there is a focus on improving their skills, above all they ensure all kids are having fun while being active.

Mr Kean visited NDLAC to meet the large number of volunteers and parents who help each and every week. “I would like thank all the parents and volunteers who give up their time to make Northern District Little Athletics such a great organisation,” Mr Kean said.
