Commuter car park opens in Asquith

New commuter car park in Asquith opens

The new car park at Asquith station has been completed and is ready for use by commuters but is not without controversy. Officially opened this month by Member for Hornsby, Matt Kean MP the car park is located on Jersey Street North and will give an additional 42 untimed car spaces for those who commute from Asquith station. This is in addition to the 20 spaces currently available at the Haldane street car park. “We want to make it as easy as possible for customers to access public transport and this new car park will make it simpler to park at the station before getting on a train,” said Mr Kean. However detractors say that with the car park being limited to left-turn-in and left-turn-out only, traffic will be forced to divert as far as Bridge Street Hornsby before they can travel north. The new car park was completed under the Transport Access Program which is an initiative to deliver accessible, modern, secure and integrated transport infrastructure across the state.
