Berowra Waters RFS receives state grant

Matt Kean MP and the Berowra Waters Rural Fire Service

Berowra Waters RFS now has a new bulk fuel storage facility making them better prepared in the lead up to the bush fire season.

The shed was funded with a $15,000 grant from Member of Hornsby Matt Kean MP as part of the Community Building Partnership scheme.

Berowra Waters RFS ‘River Rats’ Captain Jason Plumridge is pleased the work has been completed as it improves the safety standards at the station.

“The Berowra Waters RFS is thankful to Matt Kean as the CBP grant meant we could do the work without having to dip into the RFS Funds,” said Captain Plumridge.

“The station now meets the building code safety regulations.”

The storage facility holds additional fuel supplies, which means boats can be refuelled no matter what time of the day or night and is no longer restricted with trading hours of the local retailers.

Matt Kean came to inspect the storage facility and thank the volunteers, saying, “I am pleased to be able to assist the Berowra Water Rural Fire Service who do such important work in the Hornsby community.”

Further work will be completed by the RFS to improve the landscaping around the station.
