Sailors at Hornsby Kuring-gai PCYC Sailing Club were given a big boost on the weekend following two major funding announcements by the NSW Government.

The Hawkesbury River-based Sailing Club will receive a $32,964.00 Community Building Partnerships grant for a secure shed upgrade in Dead Horse Bay.

Another NSW Sport and Recreation grant was also successful for $13,500 which will go towards purchasing an additional safety craft.

Hornsby MP Matt Kean visited the club's headquarters at Dead Horse Bay on Saturday to share the funding announcements with Sailing Club members.

"I'm pleased to assist club members as they are very dedicated to growing the sport of sailing here throughout the Hornsby and Kuring-gai districts," Mr Kean said.

"Sailing was Australia's most successful sport at the London 2012 Olympics. Hopefully with funding like this we can help develop the next generation of sailors to go on a represent Australia on the world stage."

Hornsby Kuring-gai PCYC Sailing Club Vice-Commodore, Mark Alexander, said the club has ambitious plans to further grow its membership base and become a household name across the region.

"The Hornsby Kuring-gai PCYC Sailing is the only sailing club in this region," Mr Alexander said.

"We want to further grow our club by building better facilities in the future, attracting new members and developing representative sailing talent."

The PCYC Sailing Club is looking for new members to join visit hornsbysailing.com. Sailing commences with our 'learn to sail' programme in early September 2015, with registrations in August, 2015. Keep an eye on the website for any activities throughout the year.
