NorthConnex Information Centre opens in Pennant Hills

The NSW Government's highly anticipated NorthConnex project is a step closer following the unveiling of the project's new information centre in Pennant Hills on Monday.

NSW Roads Minister Duncan Gay joined Hornsby MP Matt Kean to open the centre which will serve as an important communication and information link with the local community.

Speaking at the launch, Mr Kean said the project would greatly improve safety and ease traffic congestion for the 80,000 vehicles commuters and local residents that use Pennant Hills Road every day.

"This project has been talked about for decades and now this Government is finally delivering on that vision," Mr Kean said.

"Pennant Hills Road is regarded as one of Sydney's worst roads and the NorthConnex tunnel will help reclaim some of our most gridlocked suburbs like Pennant Hills.

"I'm happy to announce that the NSW Government is well on track to delivering on this project which will benefit the entire northern region of Sydney, the Central Coast and the Hunter.

Residents can visit the information centre from today to view maps, projected timelines, the Environmental Impact Statement and detailed information about the project's ongoing operations.

There will also be community drop-in sessions at Pennant Hills Golf Club, Pennant Hills Community Centre, Murifield Golf Club  and Hornsby RLS but residents should visit northconnex.com.au for dates and times of operation.

An Air Quality Forum will be held on July 29 at Hornsby RSL from 7pm following representations from Mr Kean and Kuring-gai MP Barry O'Farrell.

The air quality forum will enable the community to speak with experts across a range of fields, many who had input into the EIS document.

The $3 billion infrastructure project will remove 5000 trucks from Pennant Hills Road daily and cut out 21 sets of traffic lights for motorists traveling between the M1 and M2 motorways.

Subject to planning approval, construction on the project could start within 12 months and see 2000 new jobs created by completion in 2019.
