Interview with Alan Jones about Upper Crust Closure

This morning, I was interviewed by Alan Jones on 2GB talking about the closure of Upper Crust Cafe in Normanhurst on Firday 9 August. This cafe employs intelectually and physically disabled people in our community, and has been doing so since 1986.

This cafe was started by a group of parents to provide employment for their mentally and physically disabled children. Parents have been running this cafe until 2007, when it was handed over to not-for-profit organisation House with No Steps. However, due to increased losses sustained by Upper Crust, HWNS announced to close the cafe down.

The future of the employees remains unclear, and it is dissappointing to see HWNS closing down such an important feature of our local community. I will continue to fight to ensure that the cafe remains open.
