State Member for Hornsby, Matt Kean is inviting local residents to nominate people or organisations for the 2012 Hornsby Community Awards.
Mr Kean said that he has organised the awards as a way of saying thank you to those in the community that volunteer and go above and beyond the call of duty to help others.
"Every year, thousands of residents volunteer their time to help charitable organisations or to support their area through resident associations, environment and heritage organisations, sporting clubs, Rotary Clubs, Lions Clubs, Probus clubs and the like."
The Hornsby Community Awards are open to all local residents or organisations who assist others in the Hornsby Electorate.
Nominations are sought in the following categories:
· Hornsby Community Award
· Hornsby Young Person of the Year
· Hornsby Older Person of the Year
· Hornsby Community Group of the Year
· Hornsby Young Sports Award
· Hornsby Sports Award
Nominations close on Friday 23rd November, 2012 and the awards will be announced and presented at the Hornsby Community Christmas Function on Tuesday 11th December commencing at 5pm.
