Galston Glenorie Sewerage Update

Hornsby MP Matt Kean and Hornsby Council mayor Steve Russell met with Sydney Water representatives this week to discuss timelines for the Galston Glenorie Sewerage connection project.

The connection project to the main sewerage line was a key election promise in 2011 and now both suburbs will be connected to the main sewerage line by June, 2015.

Presently two servicing options are being explored which will be unveiled to the public in May.

Following the community information period will be a preliminary concept design and then an environmental assessment for final project approval.

"This project has been a long-time coming for long-suffering Galston and Glenorie residents who have suffered through sewerage floods and substantial pump-out fees over the years," Mr Kean said.

"After meeting with these residents in 2011, I immediately started lobbying the NSW Government to secure the $30 million needed to connect these communities to the sewerage line."

Sydney Water are expected to provide the sewerage line framework for 386 lots in the Galston Village and 246 lots in the Glenorie Village. Those outside the inclusion zone wishing to be included in this scheme should contact Sydney Water.

It's expected a tender for the project's design and construction will be sought in December with construction to begin in March, 2014.

Meantime, sewerage connection works have already started in Cowan which will see 220 lots connected to the main line by June, 2014.
