ANZAC Day 2014

Local residents turned up in big numbers to this year's Anzac Day services across the Hornsby Shire.

The day got underway in Hornsby with the traditional Dawn Service at 4.30am. Up to 4000 people braved the wet weather to pay their respects and watch the processional march from the Hornsby RSL to the Cenotaph.

Joining the Sub Branch members for the march were Berowra Federal Liberal MP Philip Ruddock, Hornsby State Liberal MP Matt Kean and Hornsby Council mayor Steve Russell.

Mr Kean said the service was in important reminder about those who paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedoms we enjoy today.

"Anzac Day crowds continue to grow every year," Mr Kean said.

"I'd like to commend all the Sub Branch members for their hard work in organising the various services and all the local school students who also participated."

Other services across the region were held in Berowra, Berowra Waters, Glenorie, Beecroft and Wahroonga.
