$550,000 improvement works for Hornsby Train Station

Hornsby Station is getting a makeover in a $550,000 project to replace a large platform roof and give the station a fresh coat of paint.

Mr Kean said work on replacing the 500 square metre roof over platforms four and five is underway. Painting has also started and is being carried out on the station concourse and footbridge.

"The existing roof covering platforms 4 and 5 at Hornsby Station was deteriorating with minor leaking in wet weather, so we're getting it replaced now for the comfort of our customers using the busy T1 North Shore and Northern Line station," Mr Kean said.

Mr Kean said the refresh project coincides with staff at Hornsby Station recently being awarded the Sydney Trains Station of the Month award.

"Hornsby is a key station and interchange in the network and I'm pleased this project will help the station reflect the high standards its staff are setting in terms of customer service," Mr Kean said.

On top of the improvements at Hornsby, a wider station refresh program is underway which will see around $20 million spent on improving a number of key stations this financial year, including Martin Place, Asquith, Bondi Junction, Burwood, St Leonards and Strathfield.

Work at Hornsby Station is due to be completed by the end of May.
