In the first of his columns for the Monthly Chronicle, Hornsby MP Matt Kean champions the nurses at Hornsby Hospital.

Every day in hospitals around the country nurses work around the clock to ensure patients receive the best of care. Their dedication and commitment to people when they need it most is invaluable in our community. May 12th is International Nurses Day, the birthday of famous nurse Florence Nightingale. I was honoured to celebrate this day with the hard working nurses at Hornsby Hospital.

Matt has taken a tour of the upgraded Men's Shed at Hornsby. Thanks to an $18,000 grant from the NSW Community Building Partnerships scheme they have installed a ducted dust extraction system which provides a cleaner work environment.

Matt joins the Scouts at the Benowie District Camp held over the Easter weekend at Crosslands Reserve.
