Quad bike deaths: Commonwealth urged to create national safety rating system to tackle problem

The New South Wales Government is calling for the introduction of a national safety rating system for quad bikes to prevent further deadly accidents.

Following talks with the Commonwealth, the NSW Government said it now wanted to see a five-star rating system implemented.

It said such a scheme would give buyers all the information needed at a glance, to make an informed choice about buying a safe quad bike.

Since 2011, 115 people have been killed on Australian farms in quad bike accidents, 32 of which were in New South Wales.
