More drivers than ever are saving money at the petrol pump, with the FuelCheck website hitting two million users overnight.
Minister for Innovation and Better Regulation, Matt Kean, said FuelCheck had become an important part of NSW drivers’ everyday lives.
“With FuelCheck, we’ve made it easy to find the cheapest fuel in your suburb,” Mr Kean said.
“Every day, around 13,000 users log onto FuelCheck to compare petrol prices and save money at the pump.”
FuelCheck provides accurate, reliable, real-time information about petrol prices for service stations across NSW, and consumers can search for the best deal by location, price, fuel type or brand.
Mr Kean encouraged drivers to plan ahead this long weekend to ensure they are getting the best deal possible.
“Now is the best time to log on and track prices ahead of your journey, but remember prices can change quickly, so it’s worth regularly checking back in,” he said.
“We’ve already seen a spike in users this week, as savvy motorists prepare for their trip.”
Petrol stations are required to update prices on FuelCheck in real time, so drivers can be sure they are getting the most up-to-date information.
“With FuelCheck, consumers can always be confident they are getting a fair go when they fill up,” he said.
If a customer sees a price difference between the website and the station board, they can lodge a complaint to NSW Fair Trading via FuelCheck. If necessary, Fair Trading can issue penalty notices of up to $550.
