Studio ARTES Awarded $26,500 Arts NSW Grant

State Member for Hornsby, Matt Kean MP, today presented Hornsby-based disability group, Studio ARTES, with a $26,500 grant, as part of new project funding under NSW's Arts Funding Program (AFP).

Studio ARTES provides art and creative programs to adults with disabilities.

The funding will go towards the creative development and public presentation of the cross-artform project, 'From Page to Puppetry'. The project will link the studio's members with established artists and arts organisations for a three phase initiative inspired by their interest in writing. The project focuses on creating new work and includes an exhibition at Gaffa gallery and the creation of an online digital media piece.

"This extra funding will greatly enhance Studio ARTES' fantastic work", Mr Kean said.

"Studio ARTES provides its members with various opportunities to learn and develop their artistic and cultural potential for the betterment of the local community".

"The 'From Page to Puppetry' project will further allow the studio's members to expand their creative talents and strengthen their skill set".

Minister for Tourism, Major Events, Hospitality, Racing and the Arts, George Souris said the New Projects funding was allocated as part of the NSW Government $56.2 million annual Arts Funding Program.

"The Government's Arts Funding Program plays a key role in ensuring NSW continues to be the cultural and creative capital of Australia," Mr Souris said.

"Every year the Arts Funding Program spreads artistic opportunity across metropolitan, regional and rural NSW by providing funding to hundreds of individuals and arts organisations for a diverse range of arts projects and programs.

"Funding for new projects forms an integral part of this program by encouraging new artistic and cultural activities to flourish and grow."
