Recognising 30 Years Of Random Breath Testing

State Member for Hornsby, Matt Kean MP, today recognised the 30th Anniversary of Random Breath Testing (RBT).

The Anniversary coincided with the launch of the NSW Police Force's summertime RBT operation, known as Operation Paciullo, initiated by NSW Minister for Police and Emergency Services Michael Gallacher, NSW Roads Minister Duncan Gay and Acting Deputy Commissioner of NSW Police Mark Murdoch.

According to Minister Gallacher, over the course of the last 30 years, RBT is estimated to have saved 7,000 lives in NSW.

Mr Kean reiterated the importance and significance of RBT.

'RBT has made our roads significantly safer', Mr Kean said.

'RBT prevents accidents and fatalities and deters people from drinking and driving. RBT also ensures that those who break the law are held accountable'.
