Hawkesbury River Station to get lift access

Surprise! Brooklyn and River residents will be happy to hear that Matt Kean MP, who has been petitioning the state government for an easy access lift to Hawkesbury River Station, has been successful.

"I would like to announce some exciting news for Brooklyn, Hawkesbury River Station will be getting a new lift," said Mr Kean.

"I was pleased to be able to now confirm that funds will be allocated in the upcoming 2018/19 budget. Planning for the two lifts (another at Wahroonga Station) will begin immediately and construction will commence once the design is completed," Mr Kean said.

Mr Kean has been actively acquiring signatures in recent weeks from local residents. His petition demonstrated to the Minister for Transport and the Premier the urgent need for an all important and very overdue easy access to the rail station.

"This announcement is a hude win for our community and I want to thank everyone who supported this campaign and signed my petition," said Mr Kean.

This has been made possible thanks to the Transport Access Program. Hawkesbury River Station is one of 11 stations to be recieving the upgrade. $133 million will be invested into the program in 2018/19 and the NSW State Government is cmmitted to getting as many stations accessible, as soon as possible, to improve the customer experience and comfort for those using the network.
