Small Business Networking Night

Small Business Networking Night

Local small business owners gathered last week at Magpies Waitara for the annual Small Business Networking night.

Hosted by Member for Hornsby Matt Kean MP, the Homsby Chamber of Commerce and Small Biz Matters.

This is the fifth year this event has been held. Also in attendance was Homsby Shire Mayor Philip Ruddock and several Homsby Shire Councillors. 'it is a great opportunity for business owners to mingle and make connections with other Hornsby companies." Mr Kean said.

"Working alone in a small business can be hard and a chance to make contacts and connections with others in ihe same boat is invaluable" he said.

The guest speaker of the night was Minister for Finance, Services and Property Victor Dominello who spoke about the work the NSW State Government is doing to remove red tape from small businesses.

One of the Government's initiatives running in Hornsby is Business Connect. This provides advice on starting and growing a business.

While in the June budget it was announced the Government would lift the payroll tax threshold from $750,000 to $1 million by 2021- 22 which means more than 5,000 businesses will no longer have to pay the tax.

The Hornsby Chamber of Commerce encourages all local small business owners to join their organisation. They hold a number of events throughout the year and also provide support for owners when they need it. Along with the networking the event was also raising money for Hornsby Connect who do fantastic work supporting those doing it tough in Homsby.
