Preschools benefit from new funding

Member for Hornsby Matt Kean MP at KU Grevillea Preschool.

Five preschools in the Hornsby electorate will benefit from up to $15,000 in funding. Funding can be used to install shade cloths, kitchen gardens or an outdoor jungle gym to enrich the learning process for the pre-schoolers.

Matt Kean said: “KU Berowra Preschool, KU Galston Preschool, KU Grevillea Preschool, Normanhurst West Community Preschool along with The Jack and Jill Kindergarten will share in $64,000 in funding following their successful application for the NSW Government’s Quality Learning Environments fund.”

“These preschools have shown an ongoing commitment to ensuring children in Hornsby have access to top quality early childhood education. I would like to thank the dedicated teachers and staff who make these preschools the outstanding schools they are.”

Mr Kean went to visit Director Jane Moran at KU Grevillea Pre-school to tell them the good news - KU Grevilliea will receive $15,000 in funding.

Jane Moran will be putting these funds to good use and said “We will use the funds to replace the carpet in the pre-school. The old green carpet has been at the preschool for a long time so they will be able to rip that up and replace it with new carpet. They will also be re-polishing the existing hard floors.”

The Quality Learning Environments program was introduced in 2018 and is part of the NSW Government’s $332 million Start Strong Program which was introduced in 2016 and has been extended to 2021.
