WHILE the political race raged on in Canberra, federal minister and Brad- field MP Paul Fletcher was running for a different sort of prize at home.
A number of local pollies supported the annual San Run For Life, with Mr Fletcher finishing in a creditable 44th with a time of 24 minutes and 53 sec- onds. Ku-ring-gai state Liberal MP Ali- ster Henskens completed the course in just under an hour while his Hornsby colleague Matt Kean came in 80th in
just over 28 minutes. Hornsby Mayor Philip Ruddock fired the starting gun.
The fun run raised more than $30,000 towards the refurbishment of the San hospital’s residential accommodation for cancer patients.
Chatswood’s St Pius X College, in- spired by teacher Steve Quilty’s sup- port of his son’s battle with cancer, took out the San hospital’s Schools Cham- pionship Cup (male) for the second time running.
