$95,000 goes back to the community

Michael Parker at Berowra Licensed Post Office is pleased to announce this landmark goal in collecting bottles & cans.

"Return and Earn is a great initiative for the community. The concept has been realiy picked up by the locals with lots of community groups using it as a fundraiser as well as kids collecting bottles and cans to raise some extra pocket money." said Michael.

$95,000 goes back to the residents of Berowra Member for Hornsby Matt Kean MP congratulated the staff at Berowra Post Office for reaching a Return and Earn milestone last week by collecting 950,000 eligible drink containers from the community as part of the NSW container deposit scheme.

"The Berowra Post Office has been operating as an over the counter return point since December 2017, and to collect just under a million containers from the community is a fantastic achievement " Mr Kean said.

"Well done to our community on reaching this milestone and supporting our business and supporting this environmentally friendly initiative." Michael Parker said. For the last year Scott Jones of the Mt Kuring-gai RFS has been returning bottles and cans to Michael at Berowra Post Office.

"This initiative has raised over $2,500 which has helped to pay costs at Mt Kunng-gai RFS headquarters," Scott Jones said.

The Berowra Post Office is located at: 10A Berowra Waters Rd, Berowra. It is open 9-5:30 on Monday to Friday, and 9-12 on Saturday. For anyone who isn't already using Return and Earn facility, simply take your eligible containers down to Michael at the Berowra Post Office to claim your 10 cent refund. Eligible containers include most between 150mls and three litres that are empty, intact, and have their original label attached.
