Politics Workshop with Thornleigh West Public School

Thornleigh West Public School students were given a lesson on all things politics by Hornsby Liberal State MP Matt Kean on Monday.

Mr Kean was invited to share his experiences in political life ahead of the students visit to Canberra this school term.

In the presentation Mr Kean spoke about the three tiers of Government, elections and all the major political parties' residents vote for.

Mr Kean said he was impressed with the student's broad political knowledge and enthusiasm to learn about the importance of politics in decision making.

"The students asked some tough questions and were very well informed on the big local issues in the area," Mr Kean said.

"One of the year 6 students asked me about the timeline for the NorthConnex project while another young girl wanted to know how to organise a multicultural dress-up day for her school."

Later this term the students will tour Canberra's Federal Parliament House and meet with their local Federal Member for Berowra, Philip Ruddock.
