Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day

Employees at Hornsby Chemmart Pharmacy stopped to support Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day on Wednesday by painting their nails.

A manicure bar was set up outside the pharmacy with shoppers encouraged to support the charitable cause by donating a gold coin and having their nails painted teal, the international colour of ovarian cancer.

Kuring-gai LAC Police, local business owners and Hornsby MP Matt Kean were all asked to support the charitable initiative by lending their fingernails to the cause.

"I can honestly say this is the first time I've had my fingernails painted but I'm more than happy to take part to support such a worthy and wonderful cause," Mr Kean said.

"Ovarian Cancer affects over 1,600 women and their families a year in Australia.

"It's a disease which can affect any of our mothers, wives, sisters or grandmothers. We must therefore fight to find a cure and raise money with the wider community's support.

"I want to thank Hornsby Chemmart Pharmacy for taking a leading role in raising money and awareness for Ovarian Cancer."
