Drivers have been given Fuel for Thought as part of a NSW Government campaign empowering consumers to save money at the pump.
Minister for Better Regulation Matt Kean said E10 Fuel for Thought aimed to clarify false information about E10, and encourage car owners to make the switch.
“This is about increasing awareness and putting power back in the hands of consumers so they can make an informed choice at the bowser,” Mr Kean said.
“Despite common misconceptions, E10 is not bad for your engine and is compatible with most modern cars on NSW roads today.
“If your manufacturer says your car can take E10, you can be confident it will not harm your engine, making it a viable alternative to premium fuels,” Mr Kean said.
Mr Kean said the new campaign also included an online Compatibility Checker where drivers could ensure their car’s E10 compatibility at the click of a button.
“This simple resource can put drivers’ minds at ease as they can quickly check if E10 is 100 per cent suitable for their vehicle,” Mr Kean said.
“Like FuelCheck, where drivers can search for the cheapest fuel, this new tool is another easy way consumers can get the best deal at their local service station.”
NRMA Chairman, Kyle Loades, says that if your car is compatible, there is no downside to using ethanol-blended fuel.
“The NSW Government campaign educates drivers about E10 and with the aid of the Compatibility Checker gives them greater choice when they fill up.”
As well as hosting the Compatibility Checker, the E10 Fuel for Thought website will include general E10-related facts as well as testimonials from users and car experts.
The campaign includes television and radio ads as well as roadside billboards, digital advertising and social media. Drivers can check their car’s compatibility and learn more about the campaign via www.e10fuelforthought.nsw.gov.au.
