Consumer complaints provide top tips for tech buyers

The latest monthly NSW Fair Trading Complaints Register has been released, with 27 companies in the spotlight after receiving a total of 495 consumer complaints, Minister for Better Regulation Matt Kean said.

“The register lists the traders that are the subject of 10 or more complaints to Fair Trading in a single calendar month – and this is the second-biggest register we have ever published,” Mr Kean said.

“It’s a damning indictment on these businesses but a very handy guide for consumers who want to spend their money wisely.”

The February register was topped by online tech and gadget store Android Enjoyed with 45 complaints.

Electrical goods and homewares again dominated the top spots with Harvey Norman, Samsung Electronics, Kogan and Apple rounding out the top five.

“A well informed consumer is never a bad thing,” Mr Kean said.

“Our register gives consumers the information they need to make the best possible decision about where to spend their hard-earned cash.

“At the same time, the register sends a strong message to businesses to pull up their socks and do better by their customers.”

Mr Kean said February’s list also included four real estate agencies (Ray White, LJ Hooker, Century 21, and Raine & Horne), as well as two airlines (Qantas and Jetstar).
