Cancer Council Saving Life 2015

Cancer Council NSW held its Saving Life 2015 Hornsby campaign launch on Thursday with Hornsby MP Matt Kean and Hornsby Council mayor Steve Russell.

The pair were invited to join Cancer Council staff and volunteers to speak to the community about the organisation's vision for change in 2015.

The Cancer Council has identified five key areas to work with Government in reducing cancer instances. These include; tobacco retail reform,  increase Aboriginal health workers, current arrangements for chemotherapy co-payments, co-ordinated cancer care and more palliative care services.

Mr Kean said he was committed to working with Cancer Council to help spread awareness and help more cancer victims in need.

"Last year my family was personally touched by cancer," Mr Kean said.

"It's a disease which affects around 128,000 Australians every year who are diagnosed, it is also the leading cause of death in Australia.

"I'd like to thank the Cancer Council for all its efforts in promoting awareness and fundraising across NSW."
