Local Youth Development Advocate Recognised

State Member for Hornsby, Matt Kean MP, today congratulated Mr David Citer, a Hornsby Heights resident and Manager of the Ku-ring-gai Youth Development Service (KYDS), for receiving a Health Communities (Individual) Award as part of Suicide Prevention Australia's 2012 Life Awards.

KYDS provides a free counselling service for 12 to 18 year old young people and their families living on Sydney's North Shore.

The organisation's counsellors and psychologists use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy to help young people with a variety of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, drug and alcohol problems, school problems, family problems, bullying and a host of other issues.

'David is a fantastic community leader and advocate', Mr Kean said.

'David's commitment and dedication has benefited the lives of some of our community's most vulnerable young people and he is deserving of this award'.
