Local History Projects To Benefit From Nsw Government Grant

State Member for Hornsby, Matt Kean MP, today congratulated the Hornsby Shire Historical Society, who received a $500 grant from Arts NSW.

The grant was one of 43 announced by Minister for the Arts, the Hon. George Souris MP, at the annual conference of the Royal Australian Historical Society in Sydney.

The funding program offered small grants to historical societies and community groups across NSW to assist with the research, writing and publication of a wide range of local history projects.

The grant will assist the Hornsby Shire Historical Society with the production of their annual journal – 'Local Colour' focusing on the History Week them of 'Threads'.

'The Hornsby Shire Historical Society plays a significant role in preserving our local community's history', Mr Kean said.

'This grant will enable the Society to continue this role for the betterment of present and future residents'.
