Pacific Hills Students visit The Hon. Matt Kean MP in State Parliament

STUDENTS from 22 schools in the Hornsby electorate visited NSW Parliament House last Thursday.

Pacific Hills Christian School leaders Lewis Alchin, Matthew Brisbane, Savannah Nisbet, Stephanie Shuttleworth were among 88 students that visited Hornsby MP Matt Kean.

While on the tour, the students met Premier Gladys Berejiklian and also got leadership advice from NRL great Brad Fittler and NSW Waratahs player Pat McCutcheon.

“The kids are fortunate enough that they’re leaders within their local communities and in their local schools and I think with leadership, it’s not a gift, it’s something you learn and you develop,” McCutcheon said.

“No one is ever the best leader and leadership is something that’s progressive, you’re always learning and you’re always developing, so it’s a good step to speak to all of those young leaders.”

Mr Kean said it was great to see the students show a keen interest and ask some great questions to Ms Berejiklian.

“It is a great pleasure to hold this event every year and to meet these student leaders from schools in Hornsby,” Mr Kean said.

“Getting a chance to see first-hand how parliament works and to question the Premier on politics and government is hands on learning for these students.”
