Israel calling for NSW's brightest startups

Minister for Innovation and Better Regulation Matt Kean speaks at ACIC event in Sydney

A career-igniting trip to the world’s innovation capital lies in wait for up to 10 exciting fintech and cyber security startups as part of a joint NSW Government/Austrade program.

NSW Innovation Minister Matt Kean, and Federal Trade, Tourism and Investment Minister, Steven Ciobo announced submissions are open for the 2017 Tel Aviv Landing Pad mission.

It includes participation in the biggest international industry event of the year, as well as:

 Meetings with mentors to address business or technical challenges;

 Exploration of commercialisation partners supported under a new NSW/Israel innovation agreement;

 Meetings and engagement with globally successful Israeli fintech startups; and,

 A co-working base at Israel start-up hub SOSA.

Mr Ciobo said the Tel Aviv Landing Pad, part of the Coalition’s National Innovation and Science Agenda, helps market-ready startups take their business to the world.

"Tel Aviv's ecosystem of world-leading entrepreneurs offers innovative NSW startups opportunities to collaborate, grow and commercialise exciting new technology,” he said.

"Israel has world-class R&D institutions, and a sophisticated network of global investors, so Tel Aviv is the perfect place for NSW startups to land before launching to the world.

“We are looking for entrepreneurs who are ready to disrupt their marketplaces and have a vision for growth.”

Mr Kean said it was an excellent opportunity for the NSW startup community.

“The chance for some of our most innovative startups to take their business models to Tel Aviv and network with fellow entrepreneurs is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” he said

“Tel Aviv is where the action is, so the knowledge successful startups bring home to NSW will be invaluable to their businesses and the local ecosystem.”

The startup mission is in September during the renowned DLD Tel Aviv Innovation Festival. NSW is home to 41 per cent of all startups in Australia. Startups can review the application
