CeBIT Australia opens in Sydney, Australia's Technology Capital

Minister for Innovation and Better Regulation Matt Kean MP speaks at launch of CeBITAUS

The eyes of the world’s technology professionals will be on Sydney’s Darling Harbour today with the launch of CeBIT Australia 2017, the Asia Pacific’s largest business technology event.

NSW Minister for Innovation Matt Kean said the three-day exhibition and conference at Sydney’s new International Convention Centre would attract 350 exhibitors from around the world with an expected 15,000 visitors.

“CeBIT Australia will again put the global spotlight on NSW’s technology strengths and investment potential with exhibitors from 34 countries flocking to Sydney for this outstanding event,” Mr Kean said.

“NSW has the largest technology sector and highest number of technology startups in Australia and we’ll be showing our best of both on the NSW stand, and in the Startup Zone at CeBIT.

“The NSW Government-backed Jobs for NSW will also be on site with a range of activities and to promote its assistance programs for technology startups and fast growing SMEs,” Mr Kean said.

“The NSW Government is the Official Partner for CeBIT Australia in recognition of the technology sector’s importance to our economy, and I look forward to hearing about another year of success for this fantastic event.”

Mr Kean said CeBIT Australia would include delegations from many of NSW’s priority international markets.

“Japan, the United States, China, the UK, India, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Singapore and Indonesia are all represented by international delegations at CeBIT,” Mr Kean said.

“We’ll be promoting NSW to these overseas delegates to help us attract more world-class technology companies to NSW.

“We’re home to talented people, world-class research, and an economic environment that is the envy of the world with 26 years of uninterrupted growth and triple-A credit rating.”
